When it comes to home appliances, nothing good comes out of buying stuff randomly, which is something I’ve learned the hardway. This is why I now try to research every product before deciding to make a purchase. Even when the thing I need is something seemingly unimportant, such as a thermostat.
I believe most people would say that there’s not much you can do to ensure you’re buying a quality product. But I strongly disagree, which is why I’m going to present you with a detailed review of one of my latest buys. Sensi WiFi Programmable Thermostat 1F86U-42WF that’s manufactured by a company named Emerson Thermostats.
The main purpose of wifi thermostat is to make it easier for you to control heating and cooling in any room in your house or apartment. And it allows you to do it via your PC, tablet and even phone. Apart from keeping your living space at a desired temperature.
This is also supposed to make sure you use your energy efficiently and prevent you from wasting it. Sounds terrific, doesn’t it? Well, let’s take a closer look at some of the product’s main features so we can determine whether it really does what it’s supposed to do.
Feature of Sensi WiFi Thermostat
7 Day Scheduling
Sensi Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat features a scheduling software that allows you to program when and how your heating or cooling systems will work.
This helps with reducing energy waste, and saves you up to 33% on all your energy costs. You can plan a week ahead, which is why this feature is called 7 Day Scheduling, and it’s quite simple to use.
Sensi WiFi Programmable Thermostat is compatible with most heating and cooling devices, including oil, gas, geothermal, radiant heat and heat pump systems.
You’re probably not all that familiar with how these things work, but this is a much higher compatibility than that of any other Wi-Fi thermostat.
Apart from this, the thermostat can be connected to and controlled using your electronic devices via a free mobile app that you can install on your PC, tablet and even phone.
The mobile app has an intuitive interface that’s quite simple to use. I’d had exactly zero experience with Wi-Fi thermostats before I bought this one, and all I can say is that I had no problem with it.
You might think this is where it gets tricky. I mean, yes, using an app shouldn’t be difficult since they’re made to be simple, but connecting the thermostat to your heating system?
Well, it turns out this is also a no-brainer. The app will even tell you what kind of system you own, and do all the work for you.
If you’re hesitant when it comes to buying products you know nothing about, you should know that this one comes with a warranty.
The company named White-Rodgers has something called a Business Unit of Emerson Electric Co. that gives you a 1-year limited warranty on all of their products.
Apart from keeping the device dry, there’s not much you’re supposed to do when it comes to maintenance of Sensi Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat.
The product’s warranty includes not only repair, but also maintenance services, which means you won’t be adding another source of frustration on the list of already existing ones.
Pros of Sensi WiFi Thermostat
The main advantages of Sensi WiFi Programmable Thermostat are its compatibility, ease of use and cost-efficiency.
The fact that you don’t need any extra wiring to install it makes it the perfect choice for an average customer.
Its intuitive interface is just another great feature that will make your life a lot easier, and can even turn using the app into a fun activity!
Apart from this, Sensi Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat will really cut your expenses significantly. If you use it like you’re supposed to, you will never again have to bite your nails over all the energy you’ve wasted while you were out or simply unaware of your growing expenses.
Cons of Sensi WiFi Thermostat
The main disadvantages of Sensi WiFi Programmable Thermostat are the sometimes unreliable web server and the fact that for some devices it requires a “C-wire”.
Although this product is compatible with most heating and cooling systems, it can’t be connected to all of them. This is why in some cases you’ll need a so-called “C-wire”, something that turns the process of installation into one that is too complicated for the average user.
From my experience, although the thermostat mostly functions smoothly, there are times when it can’t be controlled via a mobile device because of problems with internet connectivity. It doesn’t bug me that much, but I can see why someone else would have a problem with that.
All in all, I’d give this product a solid 4! It’s definitely not perfect, but it serves its purpose and it does its job very well!Related posts:
